TONY McMANUS (Scotland)
Tuesday March 10, 2020, 8.00pm | The Spotted Mallard, 314 Sydney Rd, Brunswick

Tony McManus is a true master of the guitar, who has both extended and transcended the parameters of contemporary Celtic music. Ranked by peers and predecessors alike alongside the guitar world’s all-time greats, (English guitarist John Renbourn described him as "the best Celtic guitarist in the world.") his fiendishly dexterous, dazzlingly original playing draws on traditions from the entire Celtic diaspora – Scotland, Ireland, Brittany, Galicia, Asturias, Cape Breton, Quebec – along with still further-ranging flavours, such as jazz and east European music.
WILL KIMBROUGH (USA)
Thursday March 12, 2020, 8.00pm | The Spotted Mallard, 314 Sydney Rd, Brunswick

Will Kimbrough is an Alabama native living in Nashville his music deeply rooted in old school country, gospel, traditional blues, American folk and roots music. He last graced these shores playing guitar with Emmylou Harris’ Red Dirt touring band. He’s a sublime songwriter, think of Will Kimbrough as the Sherlock Holmes of songwriting — a sharp-eyed observer of humanity who notes every detail and spares nothing in his analysis. This is Will’s first solo tour of Australia, bringing his hot Americana licks and his beautifully crafted songs. One of great American roots artists.
